Mentor Mike

The Rugby Club popped into see London Irish ahead of their Heineken Cup semi-final against Toulouse.
Happy to be the underdogs, London Irish know that they need to be at the very top of their game if they are to make it to the final. Mike Catt, who won the Heineken Cup ten years ago with Bath, has been a mentor to the prodigious talent of Shane Geraghty, although he says there are still plenty of rough edges to smooth out. "He has been a bit rusty but he has been out for seven weeks and I expect a massive game from him this weekend," Catt told the Rugby Club. A succession of injuries for Geraghty have meant there was little chance to progress as he had hoped, but he is hoping to get back to his best against Toulouse and grudgingly gives Catt some credit. "He was actually giving me a few golf tips a few weeks back so it is improving," said Geraghty. "In the rugby terms he is always helpful. Going through the video today was a fun session as I made a few errors over the weekend. I think he takes quite a bit of pleasure in telling me what I do wrong." Catt clears up exactly what he means by putting the young pup right: "Well the thing is I have a vision of myself and a vision of Shane. I always do everything right and Shane always does it wrong."
