Coach Eloff seatching for only second win of the season
Lions coach Eugene Eloff has made six changes to his side in a search for a winning formula before their clash with the Hurricanes in Wellington on Saturday. The six changes, including three positional switches, come as the Lions strive for only their second victory in this year's competition. Eloff has expressed his frustration with some under performing players and has wielded his axe as a result. First to go is Rayno Benjamin, who has been replaced by Dusty Noble on the left wing. Louis Ludik was one of the Lions' top performers against the Brumbies last week on the right wing but has been rested after being on the receiving end of some big hits. His absence sees Jannie Boshoff shifting out from outside centre to the right wing. Walter Venter, another one of the few backs who has been up to scratch this year, moves from inside to outside centre with Doppies la Grange returning from injury in the No.12 jersey. The injury to loose forward Willem Alberts sees Joe van Niekerk moving from flank to No.8, while utility forward Franco van der Merwe is promoted to blindside flank. Lions: 15 Earl Rose, 14 Jannie Boshoff, 13 Walter Venter, 12 Doppies la Grange, 11 Dusty Noble, 10 Jaco van Schalkwyk, 9 Jano Vermaak, 8 Joe van Niekerk, 7 Franco van der Merwe, 6 Cobus Grobbelaar (captain), 5 Gerhard Mostert, 4 Dewald Senekal, 3 JC Janse van Rensburg, 2 Willie Wepener, 1 Heinke van der Merwe.Replacements: 16 Ethienne Reynecke, 17 Ross Geldenhuys, 18 Cobus Gobbler, 19 Wilhelm Koch, 20 Chris Jonck, 21 Rudi Vogt, 22 Louis Ludik.
