Sale added New Zealand lock to squad for new season.

Sale Sharks have strengthened their squad for next season by signing New Zealand lock Kristian Ormsby. The 28-year-old has signed a two-year contract with the Sharks and will move to Edgeley Park a month into the new Guinness Premiership season. A veteran of the Super 14 competition after spells with the Chiefs and the Hurricanes, Ormsy has also represented New Zealand Maoris. Sale director of rugby Philippe Saint Andre was delighted to have strengthened his pack with a powerful new addition. "I am pleased that Kristian has decided to join us," said Saint-Andre.

Tough

"He is a tough second-row player who commands respect on the field. "He has been a consistent performer over the last few seasons in Super 14's and has also represented the NZ Maoris at Churchill Cup level." Sharks chief executive James Jennings says the signing signals the club's intent to challenge for both the Premiership and Heineken Cup next season. "I am delighted to be able to announce that Kristian will join Sale Sharks in October next season," Jennings said. "Kristian is an accomplished lock who has vast experience in Super 14's with both the Hurricanes and Chiefs. "He has also played with great effect at blindside flanker and number-eight in his career. "I am sure he will be a very valuable addition to our squad next season when our main goals will be to achieve success in the Guinness Premiership and the Heineken Cup."
