Soccer AM backs heroes

Soccer AM has thrown its full support behind next month's Help for Heroes rugby match. Now it's not often that rugby gets mentioned on the show, but we've made an exception this time because the charity game is aimed at raising money for injured British service personnel - a cause that we are fully behind. The game between The Help for Heroes XV and an International XV will be played at Twickenham on September 20th and will feature a host of star names from the world of rugby. Former England Captains Phil de Glanville and Lawrence Dallaglio will act as Team Manager and playing Captain respectively for the Help for Heroes XV, with Welsh Rugby legends Ieuan Evans and Scott Gibbs filling the same roles for the International Select XV. The teams will feature a one-off return for ex-players including Martin Johnson CBE and Jonah Lomu, as well as comprising current Guinness Premiership, Magners League, Division One, overseas and armed forces representatives. The coverage will be in high definition, and Sky will provide the British Forces Broadcasting Service with the footage to be shown to British troops around the world. The match aims to raise £1million for Help for Heroes charity and Team Manager Lawrence Dallaglio will be in the Soccer AM studio on September 13th to talk all about it.

Help For Heroes Information
The charity was started in October by cartoonist Bryn Parry and friends who wanted to do something special for those in our Armed Forces who were injured in Iraq and Afghanistan. Help For Heroes is non-political and non-denominational.
