New Zealand No.9 free to finally move to Wales
New Zealand scrum-half Jamie Nutbrown is set to complete his move to the Ospreys after his contract at Bay of Plenty was cancelled.
Nutbrown had already agreed in principle to a two-year deal at the Ospreys, however the deal was held up as he still had four months to run on his deal at the Air New Zealand Cup side.
However Bay of Plenty have agrees to release him from the contract after coming to an agreement with the Ospreys.
Nutbrown, who has played Super 14s rugby for the Chiefs for the past three seasons, will now play for Bay of Plenty against Otago on Friday before heading to Wales.
Bay of Plenty Rugby Union interim chief executive Jeremy Curragh said: "Jamie is an exceptional person, team member and rugby player and we are grateful to him for the contribution he has made to Bay rugby.
"We are obviously disappointed to lose Jamie at this time and the release fee paid is reflective of our reluctance to let him go.
"The Bay of Plenty Rugby Union are very mindful of ensuring players honour contractual obligations, however, upon considering all factors it was agreed that a early release was warranted."
