Leicester Tigers signing Derick Hougaard has been left kicking his heels after a shoulder injury forced him off the training pitch.
The fly-half, who signed for the Tigers following a move by former Bulls coach Heyneke Meyer to the same club, is now eager to join his team-mates and respected coach on the field.
He told the
Leicester Mercury: "It's been really frustrating getting here and then not being able to train with the guys on the pitch.
"I am so keen to get to know the guys."
The 25-year-old South African and former Blue Bulls star broke the record for the most points scored in a Currie Cup final (26) aged just 19 and became a firm favourite with the fans.
He had just signed a four-year contract to stay at the Bulls when Leicester - and Meyer - made him an offer.
Hougaard said: "It was a shock. I was going to stay at the Bulls for another four years.
"The opportunity came when I least expected but, like everything in life, things happen for a reason and it all happened quite quickly.
"Tigers are a well-known and respected team throughout the world and, even in SA, we know that Tigers are one of the best clubs in Europe, so getting an opportunity to come and play here is a big deal for me."
