West Country outfit snap up utility back

Bristol have signed England-qualified South African back Mathew Turner on a two-year contract. Highly-rated Turner will join at the end of September from Western Province and could attempt to break into the England international set-up. The 20-year-old, who has an English mother, has great pace and can play on the wing or at full-back. Bristol head coach Richard Hill said: "Mathew was recommended to us from contacts in South Africa and he was already attracting interest from other clubs in England so we had to move fast to secure his services. "He's quick and strong and has an excellent try-scoring record at whatever level he has played at. "He'll provide real competition for the back three places when he arrives at the end of the month."
