Aussie forward signs with Waratahs

Scott Fava has left Super 14s side the Western Force to join rivals New South Wales Waratahs on a two-season contract. The 32-year-old, who has played in five Test matches and made 85 Super rugby appearances over the last nine years, is set to become the first player to be capped by all four Australian Super 14 provincial teams. Having already played for Queensland Reds, ACT Brumbies and the Force, Fava can now add the Waratahs to his list. Chris Hickey, who will take over as Waratahs coach for the 2009 season, thinks Fava will add experience to the back row as David Lyons and Rocky Elsom depart to European clubs. He said: "We've lost more than 160 Super rugby caps and over 80 test caps with Rocky and David heading overseas, so to be in a position to secure someone like Scott is fantastic for the Waratahs. "He's a seasoned campaigner, he's excited to be coming back to New South Wales and I know he'll be a great mentor to some of the young backrowers within the organisation."
