Saracens prop Cobus Visagie has announced he is to hang up his boots at the end of the season.

Former Springbok prop calls time on playing career

Saracens prop Cobus Visagie has announced he is to hang up his boots at the end of the current season. The former Springbok forward joined Saracens in 2003 and has made 115 appearances for the London-based club. At the start of this season he took on the role of scrum coach while continuing to play at tight-head prop. Visagie, who won 29 caps for South Africa, said on Wednesday that he was keen to finish his career on a high. "I think you need to recognise when you have had a good run," he said.

Silverware

"What has kept me going in the past few years is the chance to win some silverware with Saracens, and there is still one last chance to do that this season, so I want to go out on a high. "I've have had a really good time at the club, but it is right to call it a day and move on to life outside of rugby. "I have enjoyed the transition to coaching this season, but it's not my ambition to become a head coach of a team. "However, I do want to continue with scrum coaching, and to continue that as a consultant with Saracens is something I am looking forward to."
