Number eight leaves Saracens at end of season

Bath have captured the signing of back-row forward Ben Skirving from Guinness Premiership rivals Saracens. Skirving, who has made a solitary England appearance against South Africa in 2007, has signed a two-year contract with his new side and will join them at the end of the season. The 25-year-old, a product of the Saracens Academy, has made over 100 appearances for the London club. He admitted that Bath's tradition and future ambitions were the main reasons behind his summer switch.

Ambitions

"I have always admired Bath Rugby and all its tradition," Skirving told the Bath's official website. "They have had a good season this year and have big ambitions for the future and I really want to be a part of that. "They are striving for the best right now and I am really looking forward to joining the club at the start of next season." Bath head coach Steve Meehan believes that Skirving is yet to reach his full potential and thinks he will enjoy the best years of his career at the Rec. "He is well known and respected for his hard work and dependability and he is another player that we believe will improve in the Bath environment," Meehan said. "He has not yet reached his peak and I look forward to seeing him do that in front of his new supporters and alongside his new team-mates here at The Rec."
