Saints and Sale favourite set to bow out at the end of 2008/09 season
Former Scotland prop Barry Stewart has announced he will retire with Northampton at the end of the season.
The 33-year-old, who won four international caps between 1996 and 2000, moved to Franklin's Gardens from Sale in 2007.
Once there, he helped secure an immediate return to the top flight as well as taking the club to a league and cup double in a 35-match undefeated season.
This season he has played in the Saints' runs to the semi-finals of the EDF Energy Cup and European Challenge Cup as well as helping the team secure Guinness Premiership rugby for 2009/10.
Saints face Stewart's former club in the final game of the regular season on Saturday and he believes it will be a fitting way to go.
"I'm proud to say that I am a Saintsman as well as a Shark and, while it will be somewhat strange to step out at Edgeley Park in an away shirt, it is an appropriate way to bow out," Stewart said.
"It has been great fun over the past seven or eight years and an immensely positive experience, but it's time to stop and do something else."
