Irish coach delighted with forward's signature
London Irish have bolstered their pack for next season with the signing of Andy Buist from Newcastle Falcons on a two-year contract.
Buist played for the Alnwick club before joining the Newcastle Falcons Academy where he was "Player of the Season" for 2003-04.
In 2006 he added back-row skills to his original lock forward expertise. He was promoted to the Falcons' first team squad for the 2006-07 season and has since made 59 appearances and scored 15 points.
"When opportunity knocks you have to take it. James Hudson's departure created an opportunity for another ambitious player to come and benefit from our player development system," said Exiles head coach Toby Booth.
"Andy Buist has been unlucky with injury but is now fully fit and excited about joining our club.
"Andy has great physical presence, can play at blind side flanker as well as in the second row and has run the Newcastle lineout.
"He is the sort of player that will help us capitalise on the way the game is evolving. We're looking forward to getting our hands on him so that we can develop him as a stalwart of the second and back row resources we're building here."
