Springboks lose full-back for Lions tour
South Africa full-back Conrad Jantjes has been ruled out of the Test series against the British and Irish Lions after breaking a leg in Saturday's Super 14 action.
The Stormers' number 15 had to leave the field after just 10 minutes of his side's 28-14 defeat to the Chiefs at Newlands, and the seriousness of the injury was later confirmed by coach Rassie Erasmus.
"It is really serious. He is going to be out for a long time. His leg is broken," said Erasmus.
"I don't know how serious the break is, but it seemed to me the leg was turned the wrong way round, so it is really serious.
"I just hope he can get healthy as soon as possible. It is bad for him. His Lions tour is gone.
"It is sad for him and a massive setback for us - not that it caught us offside because we had a few of those this year."
Springbok centre Jean de Villiers is currently sidelined for the Stormers while captain Schalk Burger will be assessed after hobbling out of the Chiefs clash with a calf injury.
