England Sevens star joins French exodus
Newcastle's Ollie Phillips has become the latest English player to agree a move to France.
The England Sevens captain has opted to quit the Falcons to join Stade Francais.
The 26-year-old winger made just two starts for the Falcons this term and is now looking to kick-start his career in France.
Falcons director of rugby, Steve Bates, commented: "Ollie's attitude has always been outstanding, and he leaves the club with our best wishes.
"Unfortunately his appearances for us have been limited this season, but despite that he has always remained a positive presence around the camp, and I am sure he will seize his new chance in Paris with both hands."
However, Bates remains confident Newcastle will not be weakened by Phillips' departure having already moved to bring in Tom Biggs, Charlie Amesbury and England rugby league convert Danny Williams.
"Our wing contingent is shaping up nicely for next season, with plenty of quality out wide," he added.
"Both Tom and Charlie will add a big attacking threat, and we hope for Danny to continue the superb form he has shown throughout what was only his first ever season in rugby union."
