New face signs on at Newcastle to add more options

Newcastle Falcons have added more depth to their squad after signing utility back Chris Micklewood. The former South Africa under-18 international has signed on a two-year deal with the Falcons and joins from French side Brive. The England-qualified 22-year-old can operate at full-back, fly-half or centre, and also adds an extra goal-kicking option. Falcons director of rugby Steve Bates was delighted with the addition to the squad and welcomed Micklewood to Kingston Park. "Chris' arrival increases our options in a number of positions," said Bates. "He is a player we have been aware of for some time, he has great versatility and will add to out back line depth as well as our goal-kicking options."
