Fly-half becomes the sixth new signing at Leeds

Fly-half Ceiron Thomas has begun training with Leeds Carnegie after agreeing a two-year deal with the Premiership new-boys. The 25-year-old begun his career at the Scarlets, however has had to play second fiddle to British and Irish Lions star Stephen Jones. And Thomas, who scored 288 points in 71 appearances for the Llanelli-based outfit, is relishing the chance to pit his skills against the best in the Premiership. He said: "I am really excited about the challenge of coming to a new club and a new competition. I hope that coming out of my comfort zone at the Scarlets will help me move onto the next level in my career. I can't wait to get started now.

Physical

"I arrived up in Leeds on Sunday night and I have gone straight into pre-season training and getting to know the boys. I have played against teams from the Guinness Premiership whilst at the Scarlets and the matches have always been very physical and of a high standard. "I am looking forward to testing myself against that type of opposition every week and trying to help Leeds consolidate their position in the top division. "I was very impressed with the coaching staff of Andy Key and Neil Back when I spoke to them and I knew that Leeds Carnegie was the right club for me when I heard their vision for the team and the club for the coming years." Thomas follows Gareth Hardy, Marco Wentzel, Henry Fa'afili, Alfie To'oala and Juan Gomez in signing for Leeds - and director of rugby Andy Key is pleased with the latest addition to the squad. Kay said: "We are really pleased to have signed Ceiron and he will add a lot to our squad. He has experience of playing in the Magners League and the Heineken Cup and that will be vital for us in the season. "We also have Jason Strange as a specialist senior fly-half in the squad so the competition between the both will really add to our options. It was a big move for Ceiron to leave his home town club and the only team he has ever played for and we are delighted that he chose Leeds Carnegie as his new home."
