Two-time World Cup winner appointed scrum coach
Cheetahs have appointed former South Africa prop Os du Randt as their scrum coach.
The two-time World Cup winner, who is considered one of the best Springbok front-rowers in the history of the game will work alongside one of his ex-team-mates in coach Naka Drotske.
Speaking on the appointment, De Randt told
Volksblad: "It's great to be able to give something back to the game. I don't want to prove anything to anyone.
"The Cheetahs have excellent props but in the Super 14 they really struggled. I think there is a lot of talent and potential here and I only want them to do better."
The Bloemfontein franchise have a history of nurturing high-quality prop forwards, having produced the likes of Ollie le Roux, CJ van der Linde and Jannie du Plessis.
Du Randt added: "I am only there to polish the guys and it depends on the players if they achieve anything. If someone achieves something, it is due to hard work and not due to what someone did on the sidelines.
"A prop is only as good as the lock behind him and it is important to have good forwards. The Free State was known for many years for good forwards and it is important not to throw away that reputation."
His first task will be to help prepare the team for their opening Currie Cup clash against Griquas later on Friday.
