France fly-half to miss opening games of the new season

Toulouse's preparations have suffered a setback with news that Frederic Michalak will miss the opening two games of the new Top 14 season. Michalak had been criticised after struggling for form following his return to France after a stint in South Africa with the Sharks. However the 26-year-old fly-half had impressed in the pre-season wins over Montpellier and Albi. His hopes of carrying this form into the season, though, have been dashed after he suffered a torn hamstring. And with fly-half rivals David Skrela and Jean-Baptiste Elissalde already sidelined, Toulouse coach Guy Noves is currently without a recognised No.10 for the start of the season. That means New Zealand scrum-half Byron Kelleher could be forced to fill in for the games against Montauban and Brive.
