Warriors skipper dismisses relegation talk

Worcester captain Pat Sanderson has shrugged off suggestions that the Warriors are favourites for Guinness Premiership relegation this season. Mike Ruddock's side will top the table - albeit for probably less than 24 hours - if they beat newly-promoted Leeds Carnegie at Sixways on Friday night. Sanderson and his men issued a statement of intent at Northampton last weekend, pushing the Saints to the brink of a rare home defeat before Paul Diggin's late try spared the home side's blushes. "I don't care what people think about us," said England flanker Sanderson. "I know what the players in the dressing room think, and we know we are competitive. "We came up against a side in Northampton who are tipped for honours this season, and we should have won. "We will just keep quiet and get on with our job. Everyone else is talking things over, but we will get on with it. "Hopefully (on Friday), we will produce the same sort of physicality, same sort of game-plan and then we will be off and running down the road. "We believe in the strength and quality of the players that we have got. We showed against Saints that we can do it - it's just a question of consistency."
