Prop joins Welsh side from semi-pro league in Ireland

Former Heineken Cup winner Peter Bracken has joined the Dragons after a spell in semi-professional rugby back in Ireland. The former Wasps prop has been playing with Irish side Galwegians but has been brought in by the Dragons coach Paul Turner to plug the gap in the Welsh side's front row. A number of injuries have hit the Dragons, with Gethin Robinson and Ben Castle on the long-term injured list - with shoulder and bicep injuries respectively - over the past couple of weeks and is left with only one tighthead prop in Nigel Hall Bracken could even line-up for the Welsh side in their Heineken Cup trip to Gloucester on Friday, after he signed a four-month deal on Tuesday. "This is a great opportunity for Peter to reignite his career," said Ritchie Hunter, Bracken's agent, to the Daily Telegraph. "After his success with Wasps, Peter has been lacking game time and this is a great opportunity for him to play in the Heineken Cup as well as Magners League. He will be ready to answer the Dragons' call if required on Friday night." Bracken won a Heineken Cup winners' medal with Wasps in 2007 before moving to Bristol where his game-time was severely curtailed by injury. He played for Harlequins on a short-term contract last season before returning to Ireland.
