Former captain agrees short-term deal at Gloucester
Former Gloucester captain Jake Boer is set for shock return to Kingsholm after agreeing a short-term deal.
Boer was a firm favourite among the Kingsholm faithful as he made more than 180 appearances during a seven-year spell at the club.
The Cape Town-born back-rower captained the side to the Powergen Cup, with Boer named the Premiership Player of the Season the same year.
Boer left Gloucester in 2007 to join Western Province and pursue business interests back in his homeland.
However the 33-year-old will now return to the Cherry and Whites to help out during the injury crisis which has hit the club.
Head coach Bryan Redpath said: "It's no secret that we've had a rough time of it in recent weeks because of injuries and are missing quite a few players.
"We need someone to come in and do a job for us and we could think of no-one better than Jake. He's been playing in South Africa so is in great physical condition and is raring to go.
"He's well known to a lot of us at the club and loves Gloucester and he's potentially going to be a very valuable asset."
