Experienced hooker signs two-and-a-half-year deal at the Stoop
Experienced hooker Matt Cairns has agreed a two-and-a-half-year deal to move to Harlequins.
Cairns, who was capped once by England in 2007 and won honours playing for the Saxons and Sevens set-ups, arrives at the Stoop after making more than 210 appearances for Saracens.
The 30-year-old is seen as the ideal replacement for Gary Botha, who left Quins to return to South Africa - and head coach John Kingston is pleased to have bolstered his front-row options.
"I am absolutely delighted that we have secured Matt Cairns, who is a high-quality and proven hooker," said Kingston.
"It is great that we have been able to identify and secure such quality so soon after the departure of Gary Botha.
"The competition for the number two shirt will be an interesting one, given that we already have two class acts in the shape of England Saxons, Chris Brooker, and Samoan International, Tani Fuga."
