Toulon announce signing of Wasps winger

Paul Sackey has signed a two-year contract with Top 14 club Toulon as the latest high-profile English player to make the move to the French league. The 30-year-old winger, who has notched up 22 England caps, announced last week he would depart London Wasps at the end of the season. His deal with Toulon is likely to end rumours linking Wales international winger Shane Williams with a move to the French club. Sackey will join compatriots Tom May and Joe El-Abd in the south of France, as well as England fly-half Jonny Wilkinson, who left Newcastle for the club in May 2009. Sackey helped Wasps win two Guinness Premiership titles, the Heineken Cup and the Powergen Cup after moving back to the club from London Irish in 2005. "This was the hardest decision I've had to make because my heart is in Wasps and I will always support the club," he said of his decision to leave last week. "I have spent some great years here and my heart is here, but I feel the opportunities put in front of me were just too good to ignore." Wasps also lost James Haskell, Tom Palmer and Riki Flutey to the French league last summer.
