Sambucetti signs new deal; Lawrence joins from Scarlets
Lock Mariano Sambucetti has signed a new deal with Bristol which will see the Argentinean commit to the club for a further 12 months.
The news comes as Bristol also signs former Wales Under-20s and Llanelli Scarlets hooker Rhys Lawrence.
Sambucetti has racked up 105 competitive appearances and seven tries for Bristol since joining the squad in 2005. The 31-year old helped pave the way for Bristol's Premiership promotion in his first season at the club.
Bristol CEO Steve Gorvett said: "We're very pleased that Mariano has put pen to paper for the next season. He has performed consistently well this season and gives us further options in the second row."
Determination
Bristol coach Liam Middleton is equally excited about the addition of Lawrence to the club. The 22-year old has played for the Scarlets 50 times since 2009, including spots in Llanelli's starting line-up in Magners League matches against Edinburgh, Leinster and Trevico.
Middleton said: "Rhys fits the profile of the hooker and the sort of character that I'm looking for in next year's squad. I'm impressed by his determination."
Middleton expects to add another five new players to his squad for the 2011/12 season.
Middleton told the
Bristol Evening Post: "There is probably going to be an announcement in the next two weeks regarding another three players coming on loan from a Premiership club. There has been a lot of turmoil in the last 12 months and I think, in some cases, a fresh start is needed."
