Ones to watch - Japan

Look out for these in New Zealand...

Star man

Japan captain Takashi Kikutani missed the 2007 Rugby World Cup, leaving him with plenty of unfinished business heading into this year's tournament. The Cherry Blossoms No.8 leads by example up front, proving a handful for the Samoa, Fiji and Tonga at the recent Pacific Nations Cup. The 42-cap veteran loves to get his hands on the ball, evidenced by the 22 tries he has scores in a six-year Test career.

Points machine

Ryan Nicholas made his debut for Japan against Korea back in 2008, going on to play more than 30 Tests for the Cherry Blossoms. The Australian-born centre has also played for New Zealand Maori, but is now safely entrenched in Japan's backline. He has already accumulated 190 Test points and with a bit of luck, will hopefully add to that tally in New Zealand.

Rising star

Go Aruga has made a big impression despite having made just a handful of appearances. The 27-year-old, who can play at centre or full-back, has a very good boot on him while he also knows his way to the tryline. He made two appearances at the 2007 World Cup and will be hoping to add to his try-scoring record in New Zealand.
