Saracens chief to work with South Africa youngsters

Saracens technical director Brendan Venter has been appointed as the assistant coach to the South African Under-20s team. Baby Boks head coach Dawie Theron has turned to Venter and Western Province Under-19s boss Nazeem Adams to work alongside him for the coming year. Venter, 41, guided Saracens to the Aviva Premiership final in 2009/10 as director of rugby before moving upstairs last season as the club went one better. "Both Brendan and Nazeem have extensive coaching experience at various levels of the game and it's fantastic to have them in our structures," said Theron. "Brendan is a household name in South African rugby and he proved his coaching credentials when he turned Saracens around in the last few seasons, while Nazeem has a proven track record at Western Province, where he's done exceptionally well with their age-group teams and higher up. "They bring with them a wealth of experience and I'm looking forward to seeing their inputs on the field as we build towards next year's Junior World Championships here in South Africa." Venter, who has previously coached London Irish, is still believed to be in the running to replace Peter de Villiers as South Africa boss.
