In depth

A tight contest with KRIPKE just preferred. The Barron gelding is enjoying a solid season with his running style indicating this move up to 10f for the first time is what's required to elicit further progress. His last win came on good to firm ground so conditions should be fine. Mark Johnston makes a speciality of successfully pitching in 3-y-o's against older horses as the season progresses and Asian Angel is greatly respected in receipt of weight all round, whilst fellow 3-y-o, Great Example, seems likely to benefit from dropping down to 1m4f. Ayutthaya has plenty of weight, My Boy Sepoy disappointed latest but is better than that and Sod's Law tackles the trip for the first time.

Ayutthaya (IRE) 8-1 (10-0) Tracked leader, hard driven to challenge well over 1f out, weakened final furlong, 5th of 6, 8 1/4l behind Derevo (8-10) at Pontefract 1m 2f hcp (3) gd in Jun.

Kripke (IRE) 9-2fav (9-5) Chased leaders, ridden to challenge over 2f out, led approaching over 1f out, headed inside final furlong, kept on, 2nd of 11, 1/2l behind Arcanada (9-6) at Haydock 1m hcp (4) gs in Jun.

Sod's Law 4-1 (9-6) Tracked leader, led narrowly halfway, ridden and headed 2f out, soon lost 2nd, weakened final furlong, 4th of 10, 9l behind Infanta Isabella (9-5) at Newbury 1m hcp (4) sft in Jun.

Great Example 4-1 (9-4) Held up in touch, every chance 2f out, ridden over 1f out, no extra, 4th of 8, 6 1/4l behind Desert Icon (8-12) at Salisbury 1m 4f hcp (3) gf in Jun.

My Boy Sepoy 9-2 (9-2) Chased leaders, effort over 2f out, weakened over 1f out, 6th of 7, 14 3/4l behind Gossip Column (9-6) at York 1m 4f hcp (3) gf in Jun.

Asian Angel (IRE) 15-8 (9-12) Tracked leading pair until 8f out, remained handy, pushed along 5f out, rallied and every chance 2f out, kept on same pace inside final furlong, 3rd of 6, 2 1/4l behind Fox Vardy (9-7) at Windsor 1m 3f hcp (4) gd in Jun.
