    Verdict

STATEMENT spread a plate when a disappointing favourite for the Princess Elizabeth at Epsom. She may also have failed to handle the track but is the one to beat here on her second in the Fred Darling at Newbury when only beaten a short-head by subsequent Coronation Stakes winner Alcohol Free. Martyn Meade’s filly finished ahead of recent Newbury winner Seattle Rock in the 1000 Guineas with Lucid Dreamer and Aunty Bridy also held on the form book. Only a neck separated Auria and Ready To Venture behind a subsequent Listed winner at Ascot in April but neither ran up to that form next time when tried over 1m2f. Shine For You appears to hold Kestenna on the form book but needs more, as does the latter’s stablemate Senita.
