New Zealand lock Sam Whitelock has been given a two-week Super Rugby ban after striking an opponent with his elbow while playing for the Crusaders in South Africa.

The incident involving the All Blacks forward occurred in the closing stages of a 48-21 victory over the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein last Saturday.

The length of his suspension was decided by a judicial committee from competition organisers SANZAAR.
