Harlequins edged out the USA 24-19 in what was a World Cup warm-up match for the hosts in Philadelphia.

Skipper Luke Wallace scored two tries and Karl Dickson also crossed as Quins fought back from 11-0 down.

AJ MacGinty kicked two early penalties for the Eagles, and Thretton Palamo pounced after an overlap to make it 11-0.

Scrum-half Dickson pulled a try back on 28, spotting a gap and darting between two defenders to score, and Nick Evans nailed the conversion.

Dickson then set up Quins' second try on 33 with a  superb kick, and from the line-out the pack drove over, with Wallace at the bottom of the pile.

Evans converted again to give Quins a 14-11 half-time lead.

Neither side could score until the final quarter, the hosts drawing level with a penalty. But on 66 Quins scored their third try, which was a near-carbon copy of the second. Ben Botica kicked for touch, and from the line-out Wallace was driven over.

Botica added the extras a penalty to seal the victory, before the USA ran in a brilliant late consolation try through Zack Test, with the hosts running it all the way from their own 22.
