Italy centre Luca Morisi has been ruled out of the Rugby World Cup after being injured during last Saturday's defeat against Wales..

Morisi has been diagnosed with a torn ligament in his right knee and his replacement will be named soon.

Meanwhile Gonzalo Garcia, who was injured in the same match in Cardiff, has a right ankle problem but will report to the squad on time and continue his recovery.

Skipper Sergio Parisse will not travel with Italy to England after having fluid drained from his left leg.

However, he will continue his recovery with his French club Stade Francais and join the national team on a date yet to be determined.

Italy open their World Cup campaign against France at Twickenham on September 20.
