Greig Laidlaw back in Scotland line-up to face France this weekend

Scotland have recalled scrum-half Greig Laidlaw as part of a revamp for Sunday's Six Nations match against France.

They began their campaign with a disappointing 34-7 loss to Wales in Cardiff and head coach Gregor Townsend has reacted by making six changes for Sunday's Murrayfield match.

Laidlaw, centre Peter Horne, wing Sean Maitland, prop Simon Berghan, lock Grant Gilchrist and No 8 Ryan Wilson all come in.

And Laidlaw's return is the most significant, the former captain having not started for the Scots since the corresponding fixture last year in Paris, because of injuries and his call-up by the British and Irish Lions for the New Zealand tour.

Ali Price makes way for Laidlaw and he is joined on the bench by last week's starters Jon Welsh, Ben Toolis and Chris Harris. Cornell du Preez and the injured Byron McGuigan drop out of the 23.

Townsend said: "As a group we're delighted to be playing at home in front of another sell-out crowd and are looking forward to putting in a performance that can energise our supporters.

"To do that we need to out-work the opposition and be more accurate in a number of aspects of our play.

"We've seen a response from the players in training this week and that needs to continue into and through the 80-plus minutes of the match, because France will pose a massive and immensely physical challenge."

France began their tournament with a gutsy performance at home to Ireland, only to suffer an agonising defeat when Johnny Sexton dropped a goal in the dying seconds.
