Former France full-back Scott Spedding has announced he is retiring from rugby at the end of the season.

The 33-year-old, currently out injured at French club Castres, scored one try and seven penalties in 23 Test matches for Les Bleus.

Born in South Africa, he was granted French citizenship in 2014 and played at the 2015 Rugby World Cup. His final Test came in November 2017, a 23-23 draw against Japan.

"Highs and lows but what an experience! Rugby has been a part of my life since I was a little boy and it will continue to be, but I will no longer play this beautiful game," he wrote on social media on Thursday.
