Director of rugby Stuart Lancaster was delighted to see his Leeds side claim their first win of the campaign against Worcester.
Di Bernardo stars as Leeds get their first win back in top flight
Leeds director of rugby Stuart Lancaster felt his side deserved their first Guinness Premiership win of the season against Worcester.
The new boys to the top flight came into the contest at Headingley without a victory from their first four matches.
However, despite having two players sin-binned, the home side came out on top thanks in no small part to the performance of fly-half Alberto Di Bernardo.
The Argentinian, back in action after missing the last three matches with a hand injury, kicked a penalty, a conversion and two drop goals, as well as setting up Leeds' first try.
"I'm delighted and I thought we deserved it to be honest," a delighted Lancaster said.
"There are areas where we can improve but there were lots of really good things and for the defence to hold out in the closing stages there was immense.
"I said in the week that there one hundred reasons whey we needed a win and we've got it.
"Hopefully this can be the start of a great weekend for Leeds rugby."
On Di Bernardo's display, he added: "I thought Alberto was excellent when you consider the injury he's had and this is a victory which means a lot to everyone."
Worried
Worcester coach Mike Ruddock was a worried man after seeing his side lose again, despite a late rally that saw them score two tries.
Loki Crichton and Matthew Powell went over in the final 10 minutes to secure a losing bonus point for the Warriors, who are stuck in 11th spot in the table.
"We do look as though we are going to struggle because the table doesn't lie," the former Wales coach admitted.
"It's worrying, but having said that I've been in the game for 21 years as a coach and I cannot remember conceding tries like we have been doing, where the opposition breaks away and punishes you."
