Glasgow coach slams his side despite victory over Viadana.

Glasgow Warriors coach Sean Lineen was furious at what he described as his side's worst performance under him in their 41-31 victory over Viadana. The Scottish side won their first Heineken Cup match of the season against the Italian side, and ran in five tries for a bonus point in the process. Lineen was still furious though, after watching his side throw away a 17-point lead and make some defensive howlers to hand the initiative back to the Italians. It could have been worse had Viadana not had two men sin-binned in the second half, and Lineen was not shy in letting his feelings about the performance known. "I have absolutely nothing good to say about the game or our performance, apart from the fact that we picked up five points," said Lineen. "I won't blame anyone in particular. It was just a dreadful day at the office. "Viadana showed a lot of guts and they took their chances well. "But from my point of view it was definitely the poorest display I have seen from Glasgow since I became involved with the club."

Improvement

Glasgow will have high hopes of making the knockout phase of the competition, but they will have to tighten up defensively to stand a chance. "We have a huge amount of work to do if we want to have any chance of being involved in the battle for qualification to the knock-out stages," said Lineen. "First, we have a massively important league match against Cardiff next weekend and we will have to improve considerably."
