Robinson: We were bullied

Edinburgh coach Andy Robinson felt referee Romain Poite did his side no favours in their 39-0 loss away at Leicester.

Former England coach sees his new side ripped apart by Tigers

Edinburgh coach Andy Robinson felt his side were not helped by referee Romain Poite in their 39-0 Heinken Cup loss to Leicester. After coming close to beating Toulouse at home last week the Scottish side fell apart at Welford Road, conceding five tries and failing to score a point. Their cause was not helped by the sin-binning of lock Craig Hamilton and prop Allan Jacobsen in the second half. Former England coach Robinson felt his side had been "bullied throughout the whole game", getting little help from Poite and his colleagues.

Dominated

"We were physically dominated," he admitted. "We were bullied the whole game and I thought the referee got bullied as well. "I didn't think we were allowed to scrummage the way we did last week when we put Toulouse under pressure. "Jacobson had a storming game last week and was sin-binned today. It's all about interpretation." Robinson is now hopeful his players can learn from Leicester, who bounced back in style after a disappointing 22-9 defeat to Leinster on the opening weekend of the tournament. "You have to start well here," he said. "We knew what was coming and fair play to Leicester because there was instant pressure for us every time we had the ball. "Leicester had been beating themselves up all week and that's how they responded. We have to respond in the same way."
Intelligent game
New Leicester coach Marcelo Loffreda felt his team benefited from a practical approach and an improved defence. Andy Goode scored 19 points in the rout while skipper Martin Corry marked his 250th game for the Tigers with the fifth and final try. "It was very important for us to win and we played a much more intelligent game," said the former Argentina coach after his first home game. "We played practically and a lot better in defence. They are the two things we have been working on. "We wanted to play in their half, we did that well and I'm pleased. "After 60 minutes I think we lost a bit of consistency. We could have been more dominant, but there were changes and that contributed to the loss of momentum."
