Glasgow captain Ally Kellock admitted his side only had themselves to blame after being bundled out of the Heineken Cup by Saracens.
Mistakes prove costly for Warriors
Glasgow captain Ally Kellock was left frustrated by his side's errors after they gifted Saracens two tries which helped the English side to a 21-17 Heineken Cup win, a result which takes them into the quarter-finals for the first time.
The Warriors needed a convincing win to keep alive their own quest to reach the knockout stages - another first, had it happened - but the pace, power and nous of Saracens tipped the balance.
However, both their tries came as a direct result of mistakes from the home side - Richard Haughton scoring after Hefin O'Hare was tardy tracking back, with Glen Jackson intercepting Sam Pinder's telegraphed pass for their second, the latter also adding a conversion and three penalties.
Glasgow's points came from a Bernardo Stortoni touchdown and four Dan Parks penalties.
Top team
Despite his disappointment, however, Kellock admitted his side had been beaten by a top team and even tipped Saracens to go on and become European champions for the first time.
"The biggest frustration for us is that we handed Saracens their two tries - and that was the difference," said Kellock.
"In terms of effort and application, I could not have asked for any more from my guys.
"But we let ourselves down when it came to making mistakes and executing certain decisions.
"Considering what we have put into the campaign physically and mentally, it is hugely disappointing to be eliminated like this.
"Good luck to Saracens. I believe they are good enough to compete for the title because they have improved tremendously over the past few months."
De Kock delight
Saracens skipper Neil de Kock admitted he was delighted and relieved in equal measure after the final whistle.
The South African scrum-half said: "The result was a huge weight off our shoulders. The quarter-finals were always our aim for the season - and now we can think about going even further because we have a home tie.
"If we had been offered that at the start of the campaign, we would certainly have taken it.
"We knew Glasgow would make it very hard for us as they had done every time we played them in recent times."
