England skipper says effort 'faultless' but concentration poor
Captain Steve Borthwick said that too many errors were to blame for England's 37-20 defeat at the hands of the All Blacks on Saturday.
The 28-year-old lock described his side's effort as 'faultless' but said that England need to keep their concentration and raise their game for the second Test in Christchurch next week.
"We made a few too many errors and New Zealand were very clinical," he told
Sky Sports.
"Every chance New Zealand got they took."
"What we have to do now is analyse this game and work very hard to be better next week.
"They took their chances really well. When they were going forward they played really, really well so we have to look, next week, how we are going to stop that.
"We are going to work very hard to put in a better performance next week.
"The effort of our boys was faultless so what we need to do now is look very hard at the performance and cut the error rate."
Tough
New Zealand skipper Richie McCaw said that England had given the All Blacks a tough match but he was happy with their performance.
We took some opportunities and created some bits and pieces, he said. "All in all we are happy. It was a tough Test match.
"When you get some space for the backs to use it certainly helps a lot. That's what they like so it was pleasing.
"It was certainly a step up. That was the most physical game we have had all year.
"The first five minutes we got a lesson in what Test rugby is all about but the boys came back well."
