Aussie star taken to hospital after Leicester beat Worcester
Australian star Chris Latham had to go to hospital after being dazed during his Worcester debut in the narrow defeat against Leicester.
Latham left the field ten minutes from the end of Worcester's 19-17 defeat at Sixways as they came tantalisingly close to pulling off a shock win.
The former Wallabies full-back impressed on his debut before being taken off, and Warriors rugby director Mike Ruddock confirmed he needed hospital treatment after the match.
"Chris has gone to hospital as a precaution," said Ruddock.
Checks
"Our medical staff checked him out and he was keen to walk off the pitch.
"We are not anticipating anything too sinister, and it is purely a precautionary measure, but I would imagine he will be sore for a couple of days."
Worcester prop Chris Horsman was also in trouble as he picked up a leg injury, in what was a fully committed Premiership clash.
"It was a great contest, everything the Premiership is about in terms of intensity and effort," Ruddock added.
"We weren't quite as clinical as we should have been, which is a lesson for us, but on a positive note we were there or thereabouts with a top club like Leicester."
Quality
Leicester head coach Heyneke Meyer was impressed with the overall quality of the game from both teams, as Julien Dupuy settled the argument with a late try and conversion.
"It was high-intensity rugby - one of the best games I've seen in the Premiership.
"We have worked really hard on our fitness, and if it wasn't for our fitness, we would have lost that game.
"We have eight or nine top-class players currently injured, and we are far from where we need to be, but we will keep our feet on the ground."
