Blues coach delighted with fourth straight win
Cardiff Blues coach David Young is refusing to get complacent about this year's Heineken Cup challenge after his side made it four wins from four with a stoic victory at Biarritz.
The Welsh outfit defended stoutly in the second half to deny last year's finalists, and now sit pretty at the top of Pool 6 four points clear of Gloucester heading into the mid-season break.
It was only the third time the French side had been beaten at home in the Heineken Cup and it took a monumental defensive effort to shut out Biarritz after the break.
"We're not going to start talking about the quarter-finals with two big games remaining, but we are very pleased with this result," Young said.
"I'm proud of the character the boys showed to pull off this win. We knew this was never going to be easy in France and the conditions meant it wouldn't be pretty.
"But this was all about who wanted it most and which team was prepared to put their bodies on the line for the win.
"We showed real character and determination with our defence and deserved the win.
"We started very well with the 10 points but we had to dig deep in the second half as they threw everything at us."
Biarritz are effectively out of the competition after picking up a disappointing haul of seven points from four games.
Coach John Isaac said: "We're very disappointed with the result. We had most of the ball and territory but just like last week against Cardiff, we did not make it count on the scoreboard."
