'We had Bath on toast' says Richards

Harlequins director of rugby Dean Richards has praised his side following their 19-3 victory over play-off rivals Bath on Saturday. Quins gave their Guinness Premiership title credentials a huge boost, claiming only their second victory at the Recreation Ground in a decade. "I thought we stuck at the job pretty well," said Richards. "Defensively, we were outstanding, but we have been all season. It is such an important area of the game. "I also thought we had Bath on toast in the scrum during the first half, and the guys have really grown in stature over the last year. "They are soaking it up, they are loving it. They have become far more streetwise now, and there is a confidence in the side, as people saw today."

Opportunities

Bath head coach Steve Meehan lamented a number of missed opportunities during the defeat, which has left his side with an uphill slog if they are to secure a play-off position. "We had situations out there where there were overlaps that we would normally just nail, so you have got to ask why we didn't," he said. "We had opportunities, but we missed them. "We have got to win the last two Premiership games, and where we finish in the table will depend on other results. "It is a test of character now over the next few weeks. We have to put this result to one side and get back to playing the rugby we want to play."
