Coach laments 'disappointing' performance

Steve Meehan is struggling to understand how his Bath side was so comprehensively outplayed by Leicester in their Guinness Premiership semi-final clash on Saturday. Leicester remained in control throughout the encounter at the Walkers Stadium and the 24-10 scoreline barely told the tale of the Tigers' dominance. Tries from Dan Hipkiss, Sam Vesty and Lewis Moody secured Leicester a showdown with London Irish at Twickenham for the Premiership title next weekend. But, despite two second-half tries from Michael Claassens and Stuart Hooper, Meehan had little positive to say about a lacklustre Bath performance. "It was a bizarre first half. We weren't there," he said. "You expect the guys to be excited about it but we didn't get into our stride at all.

Unlucky

"We made numerous errors and it's really disappointing we never got near our potential." Dan Hipkiss meanwhile, felt that the Tigers could have extended the scoreline further but said his side had done enough. The Leicester centre insisted that that he and his team-mates would remain calm ahead of next week's final. "We were a bit unlucky not to score more points," he said. "But we played 100 minutes last week and it was only a six-day turnaround. We did enough and we'll take it. "We're not going to get too excited about our performance. We're going to keep our feet on the ground for next week."
