Wasps top table after maintaining 100 percent away record
Wasps boss Tony Hanks was delighted after his side completed back-to-back Guinness Premiership wins on the road.
The 17-15 victory at Bath took Wasps top of the league and acted as a statement of intent that a challenge for silverware could come after they ended last season without honours.
Success came despite them finishing the match with 14 men after England prop Tim Payne was sent off for separate scrum offences in the closing stages.
Bath, meanwhile, were left to rue Ryan Davis' missed touchline conversion with the last kick of the match - one that would have levelled the scoreline.
Ben Skirving's last-gasp try for the home side came after referee Chris White had played almost 20 minutes of second-half injury time.
"We are ecstatic," said rugby director Hanks. "Not many visiting teams will win down here. We have achieved what we wanted to."
Wasps were very much to the fore at the Recreation Ground with Tom Varndell touching down twice as he did in their opener against Harlequins.
David Lemi also touched down but it was Joe Simpson who really caught the eye.
The 21-year-old scrum-half toyed with the Bath defence and helped create both of Varndell's touchdowns, the second coming after he made a 60-metre break.
Hanks added: "Joe's talents are fairly obvious. He is maturing nicely.
"Some of his kicking game was really good today, and he is nailing the core roles of a scrum-half. He has still got a long way to go, but he is developing nicely."
Wasps' win also came despite fly-half Danny Cipriani missing four kicks at goal from five attempts.
Smarter
Bath have now suffered successive league defeats, with head coach Steve Meehan saying his players must become smarter with their decision-making.
"We only played well for 30 minutes. It is a question of application," he said.
"We know we can play, we have got the talent here, but we have got to sustain it for 80 minutes.
"It was a much better performance than last week, but it still wasn't good enough."
Meehan also questioned the decision not to award Bath a penalty try as they looked to drive their scrum forward in the closing stages.
He added: "I will look forward to hearing the explanation of why we didn't get one.
"The fact that Wasps scored three tries was a very disappointing aspect of our game. We just have to be a bit smarter."
