Bonus missing for Turner

Dragons coach Paul Turner admitted he was disappointed not to have picked up a bonus point in the 22-14 win over Glasgow.

Hosts fail to score in second-half slump

Newport Gwent Dragons coach Paul Turner admitted he was disappointed not to have picked up a bonus point in the 22-14 win over Glasgow. Adam Jones, Luke Charteris and Martyn Thomas all crossed for the Welsh side in the opening half, but they failed to add to that on their way to a first win in Heineken Cup pool 2. "Yes, I'm disappointed not to have picked up a bonus point but we are developing into a bonus-point side," Turner said. "At present we have to win the game and then late on try and take the bonus point." Turner was also disappointed with his side's second-half display last week when they failed to hold off Gloucester in their Heineken Cup opener, losing 19-17. "Last week at Gloucester we were unable to close out the game which was disappointing, here we had a good lead but failed to take the bonus point, but Glasgow are a very good side," Turner added. "We controlled them well in the first half but they have a very good 10 (Dan Parks) and we had to maintain control but we didn't and allowed them back in the game."

Soured

The Dragons' night was soured following a knee injury to front row Phil Price who was forced from the field after 38 minutes. Turner revealed the injury could leave the 20-year-old on the sidelines for an extended period. "Price could be out for some while he seems to have a recurrence of a knee injury which he picked up at Worcester earlier in the season," he added. "It certainly sets the alarm bells ringing for us in the front row once again." Glasgow coach Sean Lineen was disappointed with his side's performance, which leaves them facing an uphill battle to qualify from the group. Lineen blamed his players for all three of the Dragons' tries. "We lost the game again and the Dragons didn't win it," he said. "They scored all three tries from us having the ball. There was a lot of naivety from us and a lack of direction. "When we made mistakes, our heads went down and they took full advantage."
