Ruddock has no complaints after Warriors suffer on the road

Scarlets coach Nigel Davies was delighted with his side's 32-17 bonus-point win over Worcester in their LV=Cup showdown at Parc y Scarlets. Tries from Darren Daniel and David Lyons, plus two conversions and two penalties from fly-half Rhys Priestland, saw the home side leading 20-3 at the break. Scarlets manages further five-pointers through Daniel Evans and Priestland, while consolation scores for the Warriors came from number eight Matt Cox and lock Graham Kitchener.

Ruthless

"Overall I am very pleased," said Davies afterwards. "At half time I sat the team down and spoke about being ruthless. "We did that in the first 10-15 minutes of the second half but we fell off it a bit after that and allowed them to score 17 points, which we are disappointed with. "But we were in control of that game and we were the better team. "On the back of last weekend's performance (a 15-15 draw at Harlequins), which was great and was probably better than this one today, it gives us a lot of confidence. "We got a bonus point today so it has given us a lot of belief in this competition. We are only in three competitions and we need to win something. "Some of our ball-in-hand stuff was very good, some of the patterns we have been working on came off and for large parts of the game we were solid in defence." Davies reserved special praise for Priestland, who scored 17 points, adding: "We all know what Rhys is capable of. "He is a bit of an enigma but he is technically as good a player in that position as I have ever worked with. He is working very hard." The former Wales coach also hailed the form of full-back Daniel Evans and believes the youngster could be on the brink of international selection. "From a Scarlets point of view I think he is fine, keep him where he is," said Davies. "But he is playing well and if he keeps playing well there is no doubt they are going to have to have a closer look at him."
Better side
Worcester coach Mike Ruddock commended his side's performance in the second half but admitted Scarlets deserved their victory. "We won the second half 14-12 but the first half we did not win by a country mile, the Scarlets won that easily and thoroughly deserved their win. They were the better side," said Ruddock. "We didn't gel and we looked a bit inexperienced around the eight, nine and 10 positions and we made a few errors there. "We didn't have the desire to get our defensive line together and wrap around the rucks which left us short out wide, something I had warned the boys about all week."
