Bath boss Meehan singles out Hobson and Ovens for special praise
Leicester head coach Richard Cockerill hailed the display of Billy Twelvetrees after the centre marked his return to action with two tries against Bath.
The Tigers kept alive their hopes of reaching the semi-finals of the LV= Cup with a 27-11 success over their Guinness Premiership rivals.
Twelvetrees was the star of the show in the victory and Cockerill believes the 21-year-old is a "real prospect" for the future.
He had not played for Leicester in three months due to an ankle injury, though he had spent a month on loan at Championship club Nottingham.
Huge talent
"I thought the step off his left foot for his second try was as good as I have seen," Cockerill said.
"Billy has got a huge talent but his development has been a bit stunted so far this season. Before this he didn't play for the second team because we had so many injuries that we couldn't risk him.
"But he's a great player he's got some real natural ability. We just need to keep following that and give him opportunities to develop and I'm sure he will come through.
"He will play at Northampton next week and he has got to back up what he did tonight and do it again.
"He's got to make sure his error count is low and his quality involvements are up there, but he's a real prospect."
Cockerill was forced to make a number of changes to his team with so many Leicester players away training with England and England Saxons.
"There were a lot of new combinations and some rusty combinations," he added.
"It was pretty pedestrian stuff from both sides in the first half. It got a little bit livelier in the second half but not too much.
"With Harry Ellis, Sam Vesty, Aaron Mauger and Billy not having played too much there was a bit of rustiness there.
"Some of the line-out combinations didn't work at first which was frustrating. But great attitude from the boys, they kept playing and eventually got the breakthrough."
Praise
Opposite number Steve Meehan was also pleased with the performance of his young team in a losing cause, singling out lock Scott Hobson and flanker Josh Ovens for special praise.
Bath are now out of the running to progress in the tournament but former South Africa fly-half Butch James is in line to make his first appearance since last April against Sale next at The Rec next Saturday.
"I was very happy with the first half and particularly happy with the way the younger players came on and did a good job," he said.
"I thought Scott Hobson and Josh Ovens in particular. Scott was probably our man of the match.
"With Danny Grewcock suspended Scott is certain to get an opportunity. After the first couple of LV= Cup matches I said that I wasn't concerned about having him involved in a 23 and he's backed up that with today's performance."
