Northampton winger looking forward to upcoming trip Down Under

Chris Ashton is looking forward to England's summer tour of Australia after feeling like he "just slotted in" against France in Paris. Northampton winger Ashton made an encouraging international debut in the 12-10 RBS Six Nations defeat at the Stade de France on Saturday night. The rugby league convert, who came close to scoring a try in the second half, admits he is now aiming to establish himself in the Test arena. England head Down Under this summer for two games against Australia, two against the Australian Barbarians and one against the New Zealand Maori.

Different scale

"It is what every player wants to do and I have got a chance to do that now and I am not going to let it go," said Ashton. "It is a different scale, playing in front of 80,000 people at the Stade de France. This is where I want to be every time that England play. I felt as if I just slotted in. "I am looking forward to the tour. I have keep playing at Northampton and hopefully I will get onto it." Meanwhile, France defence coach Dave Ellis believes England coach Martin Johnson should use the trip to Australia to blood more youngsters. As well as Ashton, full-back Ben Foden scored a try on his first Test start against France, while Leicester prop Dan Cole started in the front row. Worcester loose-head Matt Mullan and Leicester scrum-half Ben Youngs have also been handed debuts during this year's Six Nations, while lock Courtney Lawes was thrust into the squad during last year's autumn internationals.
Tough tour
"England have to bite the bullet and throw some young players in," said Ellis. "They have a tough tour ahead but they have nothing to lose in the southern hemisphere. "They should give young players a go and see how they come out at the other end. Whether they have got enough time to get it right for the World Cup, only time will tell. "They aren't far away from being a good side. They had a go when they had nothing to lose but there is no good waiting until the championship is gone to do that."
