Doncaster sign 19-year-old tighthead until end of season

Doncaster Knights have added to their squad with the signing of 19-year-old prop Tomas Francis until the end of the season. The Yorkshire-born tighthead is currently in his second year at the University of Leeds but was brought to the club by coach, Andy Boyde, who spotted potential in the young forward. Francis has played rugby with his local side Malton and Norton in York since he was four, but is now eager to experience his first taste of professional sport. "I'm very thankful for the great opportunity in such a good set-up and facilities," he told the Knights' official site. "I would love to have a long future at the Knights and if I get a shot at Championship rugby this season I aim to take it." The freshly-recruited front-row will provide added cover for Alex Brown and Royce Burke-Flynn who have shared the position so far this campaign. Francis is excited to begin his professional experience and particularly keen to improve his conditioning in training. "The conditioning work is brilliant and very needed, my game has already improved tenfold under Andy Boyde, Glen Kenworthy and Steve Boden, plus I owe Brett (Davey) so much for taking me on," he added.
