London Welsh finished their European Challenge Cup campaign winless having been defeated 17-12 by Lyon at the Kassam Stadium.
Edinburgh had already booked their place in the knockout stages by clinching Pool 4 while Welsh were left with only a losing bonus point for comfort after six straight defeats in the competition.
The home support was left deflated by two Lyon scores in the opening 11 minutes - Thibault Regard racing over and Lachie Munro adding a quick-fire second, although the latter missed both conversion attempts.
Damian Fitzpatrick added the French club's third before the interval and it was not until the 68th minute that Welsh put points on the board.
Rob Lewis was the man to cross for the hosts and once Tristan Roberts had kicked over the conversion, Koree Britton added a second with four minutes remaining to snatch the Londoners a losing bonus point.
Justin Burnell's side have not won a European tie for more than two years - since beating Cavalieri Prato in January 2013.
