Marco Fuser has been called into the Italy squad for their Six Nations opener against Ireland on February 7.

The Benetton Treviso lock replaces Quintin Geldenhuys, who injured a ligament in his right knee in training and will miss the first two matches of the tournament.

Fuser, 23, has played twice for Italy and was an unused member of last year's Six Nations squad.

Italy, who finished last in the 2014 tournament, kick-off their campaign against defending champion Ireland at the Stadio Olimpico and travel to Twickenham to face England the following week.

Coach Jacques Brunel has chosen a relatively inexperienced squad, which includes five uncapped players.
